Group Meeting #1

Hello blog! Yesterday in class we had our first group meeting about our portfolio project. I think it went very successful and was very helpful when thinking about future plans for the project. I received good feedback from the group I was assigned to and I enjoyed hearing everyone's ideas.

My classmate, Fiona, was the first to share her idea. She's deciding to do some kind of drama or coming of age film opening. We all thought the plot she is thinking of doing was a really good idea and can be executed well if done the right way. The blogs she has created so far also look very good and I like the format she uses. We all gave her some ideas that we think would fit well in her plot, which is basically a girl walking down the street the whole film opening and she's dropping things and her heels are falling off from them being too big on her feet, she's visibly drunk and trying to seem older than she really is. I think the idea she has fits more under the coming of age category, rather than a drama. I told her that the idea reminded me of the film Trainspotting.

Next, another member of my group, Gavin, shared his idea. Him and his group want to do an action film opening. Their idea was to do some kind of break-in where they would have props like fake guns and costuming like suits. We all agreed that their idea would be a little hard to execute just because we think it would be hard to make it look good. We suggested they maybe do a comedy instead, where they still do the break-in but make it silly. For example, one of the members starts dropping stuff and freaking out as they're breaking in as if they haven't done this many times before and planned their break-in strategically.

Lastly, me and my partner didn't have a fully set idea for our film opening, but my group gave us some good ideas for the idea I told them we may be considering. I told them how we were thinking of doing something where the person acting doesn't show their face. They recommended us to research and analyze films with faceless characters and maybe wear costuming like a black hoodie. They also suggested that we do our credit sequence on objects in the opening because it would look good with the idea we're thinking of.
