Music Marketing #1
My groups assigned music genre was Alternative. I decided to do my research on the music company "Warner Records" and the two artists I chose to do my research on under this company were Sombr and Gorillaz.
I started by looking at the artists streaming services to make sure they have recently released music. I then researched both artists discography and timeline of their music careers, also the actual artists websites. I looked into other major artists or groups that are also signed to Warner Records to add to my chart and found that Green Day, Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dua Lipa, etc. are all signed to my chosen company. I watched a couple music videos of Sombr and Gorillaz to really get a feel of their vibes. I enjoyed watching Sombrs "12 to 12" music video I thought it told a story and helped me to understand more about him when doing my research since he's still more of a relatively new artist. When looking for each artists target audience or brand identity, I looked closely at their social medias to see what kind of people were interacting with their posts and what they were interacting with, for example, comments on their posts and what people were posting about them. To find out their digital marketing strategies, I looked at their social medias and streaming services to get a feel of what kind of things they do to market digitally and noticed they have strategies in common such as posting teasers of new music they're releasing. For non-digital marketing, I researched about the artists tours and concerts which are both of their biggest offline tools. I learnt that they use these tours to be able to connect with their fans.
